Landlord/tenant Rights During Renovations

Tenants have rights if their landlord is doing renovations in their rental, including the ability to challenge the notice, move out with as little as 10 days' notice, protect their right to move back in, receive compensation or another unit.
The important thing to note us that the renovations need to be significant enough to require a City permit. Newer properties most likely do not fall into this category where extensive renovations are necessary, however properties that are 30+ years that have not experienced improvements over the years, could need a justified renovations that would benefit existing or new tenants.
